A Florida federal judge freed Geico from parts of two lawsuits by chiropractors accusing the insurer of failing to reimburse sufficient amounts for services rendered to patients injured in motor vehicle accidents, saying Friday that the court's rulings in related cases doom the claims.

Coastal Wellness Centers Inc. and Total Health Chiropractic LLC urged a Florida federal court on Friday not to dismiss their class action alleging State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. systematically underpaid for certain procedure reimbursements by 2 percent, one of many similar suits pending against a variety of insurers.

Several insurers have been hit with putative class actions in South Florida by chiropractic practices that claim they violated Florida's no-fault motor vehicle insurance law by systematically applying an improper reduction in reimbursement payments for treatment of injuries.
