UnitedHealth Group Inc. has settled a proposed class action brought by a North Carolina bird refuge over nuisance calls the health insurer allegedly made to consumers even after it demanded the calls stop, according to a court order pausing the case.

A North Carolina bird refuge has filed a proposed class action alleging UnitedHealth Group Inc. is sending prerecorded calls to consumers both without consent and after being asked to stop, marking the second time the avian shelter has taken the insurer to court over such calls.
