A federal judge has returned $480 million to lenders that financed a joint venture with fallen homebuilder Tousa Inc., flaying a bankruptcy court for treating the payment as a fraudulent transfer that belonged to the debtor's estate.

Citicorp North America Inc. has asked to intervene in a dispute between a group of Tousa Inc. lenders and Tousa's unsecured creditors, saying the outcome will determine whether the banking giant can recover $200 million on behalf of a separate group of lenders.
