Insurer Prevails In $49M Sandy Losses Row With Chocolatier

Great Northern Insurance Co. doesn't have to pay an additional $49 million to cover Madelaine Chocolate Novelties Inc.'s losses from property damage and business interruption caused by Superstorm Sandy, a New York federal judge ruled Tuesday, holding that the chocolatier's claim is clearly barred under the flood exclusion in its policy.
