A roofing contractor says it's not liable for a 2019 partial roof collapse at a Tennessee Nissan factory and that the automaker's insurance company should be on the hook for the damage, pointing out that a subcontractor ignored orders to pause moving gravel to waste receptacles that caused the cave-in.

A Tennessee federal judge ruled this week that a roofing contractor must face Nissan's breach of contract and negligence claims after the roof of one of Nissan's manufacturing facilities collapsed during repair work being done by the contractor and another firm in 2019.
