The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has again urged a California federal judge to toss a suit brought by a man convicted of running a Ponzi-like scheme, who now accuses the agency of "overreach" with its administrative actions, saying it lacks "serious considerations of the arguments."

Convicted Ponzi schemer Mark Feathers has sued the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for $5 million, accusing the regulator of wrongful prosecution, saying it is wasting public resources and has violated his Fourth and Fifth Amendment rights through a three-year civil litigation.
