Ala. Waives Late Penalties For Lodging Tax Due To COVID-19

The Alabama Department of Revenue issued an order Friday waiving late payment penalties for those that cannot timely pay their February, March and April lodging tax liabilities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement accompanying the order, the department said it will waive penalties for lodging tax liabilities paid by June as relief for the impact of the novel coronavirus, noting that returns must still be timely filed.

The department has similarly waived late payment penalties for the sales tax liabilities of small businesses and food service providers.
