The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue announced Friday that penalties will be waived for accelerated sales tax prepayments due Friday to assist businesses affected by the novel coronavirus.

The department said it will also waive the April accelerated sales tax prepayments and asked businesses to instead remit the sales tax they collected in March.

As of Friday, Pennsylvania had 268 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with one death attributable to the virus, according to the state Department of Health.
