Montana will conform with the Internal Revenue Service to extend individual income tax payment and filing deadlines until July 15 in response to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the state's governor recently said.

The Montana Department of Revenue will extend the deadline to pay and file state individual income taxes from April 15 to July 15, Gov. Steve Bullock announced Friday. The Revenue Department will work with taxpayers on an individual basis and will be lenient in waiving penalties and interest associated with late payments, a news release from the governor's office said.

The governor also extended to July 15 the deadline for taxpayers making estimated tax payments for the first quarter of 2020, though the due date for the second quarter remains July 15.
