The District of Columbia will conform with the Internal Revenue Service to extend individual income and franchise tax payment and filing deadlines until July 15 in response to the coronavirus pandemic, the district's mayor said.

The District of Columbia Office of Tax and Revenue will extend for three months the April 15 deadline to file and pay individual and fiduciary income tax returns, Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser and Chief Financial Officer Jeffrey DeWitt said Monday in a joint statement.

The July 15 extension would also apply to partnership tax returns and franchise tax returns.
