Washington businesses will not owe penalties for late beer and wine tax payments until April 22 due to the coronavirus outbreak, Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee has announced.

The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board will waive penalties for late tax payments made by microbreweries, domestic breweries, beer distributors, wineries and wine distributors, Inslee said in a proclamation Tuesday. The waiver is retroactive to Feb. 29, the date of the governor's state of emergency declaration in response to the outbreak of the virus, which causes COVID-19.
