Illinois will provide a three-month extension to its income tax filing and payment deadlines to provide tax relief in response to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the state Department of Revenue said Wednesday.

Illinois will extend its April 15 income tax deadlines for corporations, individuals and trusts to July 15, matching the federal tax extensions, the department said in a bulletin. The extension does not affect the first and second installments of estimated payments for taxes due April 15 and June 15, the bulletin said.

Many states have offered tax extensions amid the spread of the virus, which causes the respiratory disease COVID-19. As of Wednesday, Illinois had 1,865 COVID-19 cases, with 19 deaths attributed to the virus, according to the state Department of Public Health.
