Ohio Bill Seeks Income Tax Extension In COVID-19 Response

By Jaqueline McCool · 2020-03-24 14:58:16 -0400

Ohio would extend the filing and payment deadline for state, municipal and school district income taxes in line with the federal extension in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, under a bill introduced in the state House of Representatives.

H.B. 565, introduced Monday by Reps. John Rogers, D-Mentor-on-the-Lake, and Jeffrey Crossman, D-Parma, would extend the deadlines to July 15. That extension would be in keeping with the federal extension announced last week in a concession to the global outbreak of the novel coronavirus, which causes COVID-19.

No penalties would accrue during the extension period, according to the bill.
