A landlord has asked the Supreme Court of Maryland to weigh in on its arguments in federal court that a Walmart affiliate shouldn't have sought to tear down a former Sam's Club in the Baltimore area before the landlord asked local officials to step in and stop the demolition.

A Maryland federal judge ruled Wednesday that a landlord must face a Walmart subsidiary's claims that the realty company interfered with the retailer's contractual rights to raze its property near Baltimore at the end of its lease by sending a letter urging county officials not to grant necessary permits.
