The federal government settled a suit brought by a Louisiana partnership that accused the IRS of using a flawed appraisal to drive down its tax deduction for a land donation by nearly $1.9 million, according to Louisiana federal court filings.

A Louisiana partnership that claimed $2 million in charitable deductions for its donation of waterfront property told a federal court that the IRS wrongly reduced the amount to $125,000 after sending an unlicensed appraiser whose evaluation of the donation was flawed.
