A law firm representing individual class members in the NFL concussion litigation urged a Pennsylvania federal judge and a fee expert to adjust findings related to an uncapped settlement between the football league and players, saying Wednesday that some cases deserve greater compensation.

A group of firms representing individual class members in the NFL concussion suit asked a Pennsylvania federal court on Tuesday to allow them to depose Harvard Law School professor William B. Rubenstein, telling the court that it's unfair to limit response to expert testimony that recommends capping the potential fee awards.

Expert Urges Contingency Fee Cap In NFL Concussion Deal
A court-appointed expert brought in to address several questions surrounding attorneys' fees payouts in the uncapped NFL concussion settlement recommended Monday that the Pennsylvania federal court overseeing the settlement should cap contingency fees for individual attorneys at 15 percent and scrap another request to set aside 5 percent of settlement awards to compensate future work in administering the settlement.
