Justice Stevens' Adieu Leaves Institutional Void

Law360, New York (April 09, 2010, 11:48 AM ET) -- With Justice John Paul Stevens' announcement Friday that he will retire after the current term ends this summer, the U.S. Supreme Court will lose a coalition-building strategist, a proponent of old-school judicial restraint and more than three decades of experience wrapped up in one justice.

“He has been one of the really great justices in the history of the court,” said Richard H. Fallon, professor of constitutional law at federal courts at Harvard Law School.
