Law360, New York (May 24, 2010, 1:28 PM ET) -- In a case involving Mazda Motor of America Inc., the U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to rule on whether whether state law claims brought against an automaker over a fatal crash are preempted by federal vehicle standards.
The high court on Monday granted a petition for a writ of certiorari filed by the family of Thanh Williamson, who was wearing a lap-only seat belt in 2002 when her 1993 Mazda minivan was involved in a crash with another vehicle, killing her.
