Honest Services Law 'Tainted' Black's Jury, Atty Says

Law360, New York (September 29, 2010, 4:17 PM ET) -- A Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP attorney who's representing Conrad Black sparred with a federal appeals court judge on Wednesday over whether a jury would have convicted the ex-media magnate of fraud without the recently narrowed honest services statute.

Gibson Dunn's Miguel A. Estrada contended in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit that Black would not have been convicted of fraud and obstruction of justice if prosecutors had not presented the jury with an alternative theory of honest services fraud.
