Supreme Court Hearing Nears In Coca-Cola Race Case

Law360, New York (March 29, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- The U.S. Supreme Court will soon hear an appeal from the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in a race discrimination case that will clarify to what extent an employer can be liable when the person who fires an employee is unaware of the worker’s race.

The High Court will consider the case on April 18, but will not try it. Instead it will mull liability and decide whether the case has enough merit to go to trial in New Mexico, where the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed suit...
