Cathay Pacific Appeals $82M EU, Korea Cartel Fines

Law360, New York (January 25, 2011, 3:03 PM ET) -- Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. said Tuesday it had appealed antitrust fines totaling nearly $82 million from European and South Korean regulators for its alleged part in an air cargo industry cartel.

The Hong Kong-based airline asked the General Court of the European Union to review the European Commission's November decision to fine Cathay Pacific €57.12 million ($78 million) for its alleged role in the cartel from 2004 through early 2006.
