MarcTec Fights $5M Cordis Award In Fed. Circ.

Law360, Washington (July 08, 2011, 4:42 PM ET) -- Medical device maker MarcTec LLC told the Federal Circuit on Friday that $4.7 million in legal fees awarded to Cordis Corp. in a suit over stent patents was unwarranted, arguing it was not guilty of alleged litigation misconduct.

An Illinois federal judge handed down the award in February 2010, following a ruling in September 2009 granting Cordis' motion for summary judgment of noninfringement of two MarcTec patents related to the inclusion of certain materials in surgical devices.
