Law360, New York (February 22, 2012, 4:59 PM ET) -- The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that plaintiffs seeking damages for asbestos-related health problems can file separate lawsuits for distinct cancers they may develop.
The ruling changed a prior understanding of the state's “separate disease rule” that plaintiffs may only file one suit for a nonmalignant illness stemming from exposure to asbestos and one suit for a malignant one.
