NJ Court Nixes Golf Course Owner's Town Zoning Challenge

Law360, New York (May 04, 2012, 4:37 PM ET) -- A New Jersey appeals court on Friday refused to revive Mount Laurel golf course owner Hal Holding LLC's claims that town ordinances illegally blocked it from subdividing its 175 acres for residential development, saying the developer knowingly agreed to the restrictions more than 50 years ago.

The area was rezoned in the 1960s for commercial and recreational use thanks in part to lobbying from Hal Holding's predecessor-in-interest to the property, Goodwin Homes Inc., according to court documents. The rezoning spurred the creation of an ordinance prohibiting...
