Law360, New York (June 22, 2012, 8:30 PM ET) -- The Texas Supreme Court on Friday found that a judgment in a defamation suit against Freedom Communications Inc. is legally void because the former district judge who issued the decision admitted to accepting a bribe in exchange for the ruling.
Without commenting on the validity of the underlying suit, the court held that former 404th Judicial District Judge Abel Corral Limas was automatically disqualified from the case under the Texas Constitution when he accepted the bribe and any orders he entered were not binding.
