10th Circ. Kills Oil Tycoon's Suit Over Tar Sands Rights

Law360, Washington (July 12, 2012, 9:00 PM ET) -- Oil tycoon Jack Grynberg and three production companies failed to persuade the Tenth Circuit on Thursday to reinstate their suit claiming Ivanhoe Energy Inc. stole confidential information and used it to gain Ecuadorean tar sand development rights that had previously belonged to Grynberg's companies.

Grynberg, Archidona Minerales SA, Cotundo Minerales SA and RSM Production Corp. sued Ivanhoe in 2008 after the company allegedly used information it gleaned during joint venture talks with the plaintiffs to acquire development rights for Ecuador's Pungarayacu Heavy Tar Sands Oil Deposit....
