Law360, New York (September 17, 2012, 4:41 PM ET) -- Three of the major television broadcasters on Friday asked the Second Circuit to reverse a lower court's holding that Aereo Inc.'s online television streaming service is legal, arguing that such retransmissions are expressly barred by copyright law.
In their opening brief with the appeals court, American Broadcasting Cos., CBS Broadcasting Inc. and NBCUniversal Media LLC argue that the New York federal court erred in refusing to block Aereo's streaming technology, saying the system constitutes a forbidden public performance under the Copyright Act.
