California's High Court Refuses To Hear FedEx Appeal

Law360, New York (November 29, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- The Supreme Court of California on Wednesday shot down an appeal by FedEx Corp.’s U.S. ground unit, which aimed to overturn a lower court ruling that said the company's drivers should be classified as employees and not as independent contractors.

The court's refusal to take up the appeal came more than three months after the California Court of Appeal upheld a state court’s 2005 ruling in the Estrada v. FedEx Ground Package System Inc. case that drivers are indeed employees and should be appropriately compensated....
