Crane Co.[1], a tort case brought against a United States Navy contractor for failure to warn about asbestos hazards. In April 2014, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals panel affirmed denial of remand of the case because it found removal to be proper under the federal officer removal statute. Although several issues decided by the panel in this case were "novel" to the Ninth Circuit, the decision aligns with established precedents from other circuits regarding the ability of federal contractors to remove tort cases....
