Law360, New York (July 28, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- The Tennessee Supreme Court has affirmed a lower court's $13 million punitive damages award to a couple who sued DaimlerChrysler Corp. following the death of their 8-month-old son.
The court ruled 3-2 Thursday that the punitive damages for the wrongful death claim were not excessive. The high court affirmed an appeals court decision to reverse the compensatory and punitive award of more than $6 million for negligent infliction of emotional distress.
