Comcast Loses Bid To Throw Out Class Action Suit

Law360, New York (September 12, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- In a move that could lead to changes across the cable industry, a federal judge has refused to dismiss a class action antitrust suit that accuses Comcast Corp. of establishing monopolies in the Philadelphia and Chicago markets.

The suit alleges that Comcast and other cable providers cooperated to become exclusive providers for separate sections of the market, and then increased prices once competition in a section was eliminated.
