Union Sues Supermarket Chain Over CBA Breaches

Law360, New York (May 7, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Shaw's Supermarkets Inc. is improperly denying employees the medical, dental and life insurance benefits it is required to provide them under certain collective bargaining agreements, a Massachusetts union has alleged.

In its complaint, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, Local 791 United Food and Commercial Workers Union claims that the supermarket chain is denying the benefits to employees on leave, despite the CBAs in place that entitle them to continue receiving those benefits.
