Mixed Victory For Pfizer In Dutch Lipitor Battle

Law360, New York (September 13, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc. has received another victory in its battle to protect Lipitor from generic reproduction, after a Dutch court ruled Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd.’s version of the cholesterol drug would violate a Pfizer patent.

Pfizer said in a statement Wednesday that the District Court of The Hague in the Netherlands ruled that the basic patent for Lipitor would be infringed by Ranbaxy’s product. A second patent, however, was struck down.
