EU Antitrust Fine On Intel May Bust Microsoft Record

Law360, New York (May 8, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission is reportedly set to hand down its final judgment against Intel Corp. on Wednesday, imposing a fine against the computer chip giant that could rival the antitrust regulator's record-breaking €899 million ($1.2 billion) penalty against Microsoft Corp.

Citing sources familiar with the case, Reuters reported Thursday that commission was expected to issue its decision at the European Union executives' weekly meeting on Wednesday, based on a directive by EU Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes.
