District Judge Gets 33 Months In Sexual Abuse Case

Law360, New York (May 11, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- U.S. District Judge Samuel B. Kent on Monday received a 33-month prison sentence for lying to investigators about allegations that he sexually abused his secretary, marking the first time that a federal judge has been sentenced in connection with sexual misconduct.

Judge Kent pled guilty to one count of obstruction of justice in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas on Feb. 23. As part of the agreement, prosecutors agreed that they would not argue for a sentence of more than three years...
