RealNetworks Cries Cartel In DVD Copy Spat

Law360, New York (May 14, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In the latest twist in the copyright battle between several movie studios and RealNetworks Inc. over a DVD-copying application, the software maker has fired back at the studios, accusing them of conspiring to block RealNetworks’ program in favor of their own and force consumers to pay twice to make copies of movies.

The counterclaims - filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California - argue that the studios, which include Paramount Pictures Corp., Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp. and Warner Bros....
