Hunton & Williams Axes 23 Associates, 64 Staffers

Law360, New York (May 14, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- In more bad news for the legal industry this week, Hunton & Williams LLP has handed pink slips to 23 associates and of counsel and 64 staff members, cuts that amount to 2 percent of the firm's lawyers and 6 percent of its staff.

The layoffs — Hunton's first since the economy took a turn for the worse — were announced in a firmwide e-mail distributed Thursday morning and are spread across the Richmond, Va.-based firm's practice areas and U.S. offices, according to Wally Martinez, the...
