Wyeth Wins First Hormone Replacement Therapy Case

Law360, New York (September 18, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Drug giant Wyeth walked away from its first courtroom battle over Premarin and Prempro with a victory on Friday. The decision may signal how the pharmaceutical company will proceed with the approximately 5,000 lawsuits it still faces over the hormone replacement therapy drugs.

The jury in federal court in Arkansas was not convinced that the drugs caused Linda Reeves to develop the cancer that forced her to have a mastectomy. Reeves took Premarin, and then Prempro, for years.
