Hallmark To Settle Overtime Class Action For $5.6M

Law360, New York (May 22, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge has preliminarily approved a class action settlement under which Hallmark Marketing Corp. has agreed to pay current and former hourly employees in California $5.6 million to settle claims they were denied overtime pay.

Judge Valerie Baker Fairbank of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Thursday conditionally certified the class for settlement purposes after finding the agreement was fair, adequate and reasonable. A final hearing is scheduled for Oct. 16.
