EPA To Speed Up Dioxin Cleanup At Mich. Dow Site

Law360, New York (May 27, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson has announced that the agency plans to accelerate the cleanup of a Midland, Mich., dioxin hot spot and to make its negotiations over the ongoing effort with Dow Chemical Co. more transparent.

In a letter Tuesday to residents around the dioxin contamination in the Tittabawassee River near Dow's plant, Jackson acknowledged that Dow had already begun to address the contamination but said "much work remains" in the cleanup.
