Amazon, Apple Sued Over Online Payment Patents

Law360, New York (May 27, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Fifteen companies that offer prepaid gift cards or online payment options for customers, including Amazon.com Inc. and Apple Inc., have been sued by a patent-holding company for allegedly infringing four patents that cover an electronic payment system.

Marshall, Texas-based Actus LLC filed the lawsuit Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, just a month and a half after it named 20 other companies in a separate suit involving the four patents.
