Calif. Fines BP $1M For Clean Air Code Slipups

Law360, New York (May 28, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Seventeen minor violations of California's clean air regulations for automotive fuels have stacked up to a hefty fine of more than $1 million for BP West Coast Products LLC.

The California Environmental Protection Agency's Air Resources Board announced Wednesday that, while none of the recorded violations led to increased fuel emissions in California, BP's significant presence in the state's energy market and the number of smaller accounting and clerical errors traced back to BP forced the board come down hard on the oil giant.
