Bill Seeks To Boost Competition For Govt. Services

Law360, New York (June 4, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., has introduced legislation that aims to boost competition for goods and services now provided by federal employees, by helping private sector businesses compete with their government counterparts.

In a statement Wednesday, Thune said that some 850,000 federal employees were working at jobs that could be deemed commercial in nature. In practice, this results in unfair government competition with private enterprise for certain goods or services, according to Thune.
