Lawyers' Benefits Next On Chopping Block: Experts

Law360, New York (June 10, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- McDermott Will & Emery LLP's recent memo to associates that it will slash their benefits packages by July 1 portends a coming wave of law firm reductions in employees' plans as firms scramble to cut corners in tight economic times, industry experts predict.

On Tuesday, the legal blog Above the Law posted an internal memo from McDermott to its associates and nonattorney employees telling them they will soon have to pay more "at the point of service" for benefits.
