Chinese Drywall Cases Head To La. As MDL

Law360, New York (June 16, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation has consolidated a number of lawsuits brought over Chinese-made, allegedly tainted drywall installed in U.S. homes.

In an order Monday, the panel said it would transfer the cases to Judge Eldon E. Fallon of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. The actions “involve common question of fact,” and centralization will “serve the convenience of the parties and witnesses and promote the just and efficient conduct” of the litigation, the panel said.
