Australia Launches Countersuit Against Tech Giants

Law360, New York (September 25, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Australia’s national science agency has filed a countersuit against five of the world’s top high-tech companies, which are looking to invalidate a wireless networking patent to avoid paying hefty royalties.

In court documents filed Friday, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) alleged that dozens of Microsoft Corp., Netgear Inc. Hewlett-Packard Corp., Intel Corp. and Dell Inc. products infringed its patent.

The agency is looking for an injunction and undisclosed damages.
