RIM, Motorola Phone Patent Spat Stayed For Re-Exam

Law360, New York (June 18, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A magistrate judge has put the brakes on a cell phone patent infringement dispute between Motorola Inc. and BlackBerry maker Research In Motion Ltd. while the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office takes another look at Motorola’s patents.

Magistrate Judge William F. Sanderson Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas on Monday stayed the consolidated case to wait for the USPTO to complete its re-examination of 10 Motorola patents.
