RIM, Palm Sued Over Mailbox Processing Patent

Law360, New York (June 22, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Smartphone makers Palm Inc. and Research In Motion Ltd. are the latest companies to be targeted for patent infringement by Saxon Innovations LLC, an intellectual property licensing company that has accused Palm and RIM of infringing a patent related to mailbox communication on wireless hand-held devices.

Saxon lodged the complaint Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, claiming that the Treo and BlackBerry makers infringed a patent titled “Device and method for interprocessor communication using mailboxes owned by processor devices.”...
