EEOC Disputes Land O’Lakes’ Severance Agreement

Law360, New York (September 26, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed a lawsuit against food and agriculture cooperative Land O’Lakes over of its policy requiring fired workers to waive their rights to bring discrimination claims against the company in exchange for severance pay or benefits.

The EEOC lodged the suit Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, claiming that the Arden Hills, Minn.-based company’s severance agreement breaches federal laws.
