Asarco Cleared To Seek Legal Costs From Insurer

Law360, New York (June 24, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Texas state court has ruled that bankrupt copper mining company Asarco LLC can proceed with claims against Fireman's Fund Insurance Co., which has sold $60 million of insurance to Asarco, to recover legal expenses associated with asbestos claims.

Judge J. Manuel Banales of the District Court of Nueces County, Texas, 105th Judicial District, on Saturday denied Fireman's Fund's motion for summary judgment that it was not obligated to pay any legal expenses, allowing the issue to go to trial.
